Manufacturer stampings, dirt and barcoding appear on all forms of plumbing-grade PVC pipe that are purchased from a home center or hardware store. While our Furniture Grade PVC doesn’t have any of these complications and is available to purchase, should you choose to use off-the-shelf plumbing class PVC for your project it can be ‘cleaned’ to maximize the appearance and aspect.

Perform the cuts necessary for the PVC pipe segments. It is easier to work with smaller sizes and cut first, rather than working with large segments. You will want to work with each small section at a time, as you will need to act hastily before the acetone evaporates. |

Work outdoors or in an open garage. Acetone emits vapors which are harmful and can cause dizziness or headaches. It may be best to use a respirator when working with Acetone, just as a precaution. |

Yellowing of plumbing grade PVC pipe is typical and cannot be removed. This is due to a chemical reaction between the plumbing-grade pipe and ultraviolet radiation from sunlight or flourescent lighting. Due to this, plumbing grade PVC will never match the whiteness of our Furniture Grade Pipe or Fittings unless painted or replaced with our Furniture Grade PVC Pipe, as Furniture Grade products have a UV-protective additive. |
